(English follows) La police de Châteauguay recherche un automobiliste qui a heurté une cycliste sans s’arrêter après l’accident.
Le délit de fuite s’est produit le samedi 7 juillet, vers 9h. «Une jeune femme âgée de 19 ans circulait sur la piste cyclable du boulevard Salaberry Sud. Elle se serait immobilisée à l’intersection de la rue Saint-Eugène alors qu’un automobiliste effectuait également son arrêt. Un contact visuel aurait été établi, durant lequel la cycliste a cru que l’automobiliste lui faisait signe de passer. Alors que la jeune femme franchissait l’intersection, l’automobiliste a appuyé sur l’accélérateur, heurtant la cycliste qui a chuté», indique la police dans un communiqué.
La cycliste a subi des blessures qui se sont avérées mineures. Le conducteur a poursuivi sa route sans s’en soucier.
La police le recherche. Il s’agissait d’un homme de race blanche âgé entre 30 et 40 ans. Son véhicule était «possiblement de couleur noire, modèle 4 portes avec aileron arrière», fait part la police.

Chateauguay police are searching for a motorist who struck a cyclist without stopping following an accident
The hit-and-run took place on Saturday, July 7 at about 9 a.m. ‘’A 19-year-old girl was riding on the bicycle path on Salaberry South Blvd. She came to a stop at the intersection of St. Eugene street when a motorist also stopped. A visual contact was apparently established during which the cyclist believed that the motorist was giving her a sign to proceed. But when the young lady crossed the intersection, the motorist pressed on the accelerator, striking the cyclist who fell,’’ the police indicated in a communiqué.
The cyclist sustained injuries which turned out to be minor. The motorist continued on his way without showing any concern.
The police are looking for him. He was a white male aged between 30 and 40. His vehicle was ‘’possibly black, a four-door model with wings (or fins) in the back,’’ police describe.
