«Ce qui m’inquiète le plus, c’est que la mairesse est incapable de chiffrer le montant de la dette actuelle, exprime M. Routhier dans un communiqué le 25 août. Notre candidate au poste de conseillère, Linda Bélanger, lui a posé la question en assemblée publique. Sa réponse a été tellement évasive et floue que personne n’a pu y comprendre quoi que ce soit» s’étonne-t-il.
M. Routhier dit se référer aux chiffres disponibles sur le site Internet du ministère des Affaires municipales (MAMOT) pour avancer que la dette de la municipalité serait passée de 87 M$ en 2009 à plus de 135 M$ en 2016, «sans compter les emprunts annoncés dernièrement», évoque-t-il dans le même communiqué, en mentionnant notamment une augmentation supplémentaire possible de 25 M$..
«Le taux de taxation foncière ainsi que la dette sont les plus élevés de la région», critique le candidat, avant de féliciter «la vigilance des membres de son équipe en matière de gestion des finances municipales». Il cite plus particulièrement sa candidate au poste de conseillère Linda Bélanger, en vantant notamment ses interventions en assemblée publique. «Ces interventions démontrent sa rigueur et son expérience de gestionnaire, qui se révèleront un atout important pour notre communauté. Ça nous différencie de l’approche de la mairesse actuelle», conclut-il.
