Adam Sinagra, a star collegiate quarterback who previously played minor football for the Chateauguay Raiders, has opted for the University of Calgary from among numerous schools that were courting him.
That institution offered him a full academic scholarship to join its football squad, the Dinos, reports his dad, former Chateauguay Minor Football Association player and coach Johnny Sinagra. His son learned of the good news in a letter sent to his Chateauguay home a few days before his birthday. He was scheduled to blow out 21 candles on January 10, but the young man flew to Calgary at midnight on January 6.
“I am going to miss him but I very proud of him,” said Adam’s dad in an interview with Le Soleil on the eve of Adam’s departure. John was also an outstanding player with the Raiders before switching to coaching.
His son
As he indicated to Canadian Football Chat, Adam Sinagra selected the University of Calgary for the opportunities it offers, both on the football field and in the academic classroom. The young man is studying international economics as part of the business program.
From his standpoint, Dinos’ offensive coordinator Ryan Sheahan describes the player in these words on the team’s blog: “Adam sees the field exceptionally well and he is very athletic. He has superior arm strength. He has all the qualities to be a number one quarterback in Canadian inter-university sports.”
All-Star pick
Young Sinagra previously played with the John Abbott College Islanders on the West Island. His exploits landed him on the league’s first all-star team.
