The City invites members of the public and the media to attend a special event on Thursday, November 7from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to mark the commemoration of the designation of the Jean-Pierre-Houde room at the Centre culturel Georges-P.-Vanier (15, Maple Blvd). Having worked for the City as a stage director and sociocultural activity leader, Jean-Pierre Houde profoundly influenced cultural life in Châteauguay. His work laid the foundation for the structure of the Direction de la vie citoyenne as we know it today, allowing us to co-operate with community organizations and offer courses, workshops and other cultural activities to thousands of residents. Since this year marks the 40th anniversary of the death of this cultural worker, the Ville de Châteauguay would like to hold a tribute evening that is worthy of his significant contribution. Agenda for the evening A cocktail will be served to guests at 6:30 p.m., after which a plaque and a commemorative mural will be unveiled, as well as the historic “As time goes by” brochure, describing Jean-Pierre Houde’s life. Also, filmmaker Alexis De Gheldère will be on hand to immortalize the personal accounts of Mr. Houde’s friends and relatives on film in order to make an official archival document. The evening will be topped off by music provided by singer André Thériault, who will revisit a few classics by Félix Leclerc, a singer who Mr. Houde admired. During the event, you will learn about Mr. Houde’s achievements and contribution to the Châteauguay’s sociocultural life. Residents who would like to attend the evening can pick up their tickets now, at no charge, at the service counter of the Centre culturel Georges-P.-Vanier. (Source : Ville de Châteauguay)
