A Jeep that looked like it had just stepped out of an old war movie was parked in front of City Hall around 2 pm on Monday, November 9.

It was nice and warm out, like a summer’s day. Marc Lavigne seized the occasion to go out for a ride with the top off and the windshield down in his bumper-to-bumper army green vehicle.

The 1957 Jeep was owned by the Canadian government but was not used by the army. “It was used by a wildlife warden in Lac Saint-Jean. He has a new vehicle. Someone there had bought the Jeep and they played around with it, they really messed it up,” Mr. Lavigne recounted. He bought the Jeep from those people in Lac Saint-Jean and completely restored it.

“It’s a hobby. It’s just for fun,’ he said. Opportunities to see him on the road at the wheel of his toy are rather rare. “I do 100 miles per year with it,’ he noted. The suspension is a little stiff. It has 11 blades in the back, Mr. Lavigne revealed.

Also, he specified that he takes particular care of the collector’s item so that he can pass it on to future generations.
