(English follows) Le maire de Châteauguay trace un bilan en partie positif au terme de sa première année à la tête de la Ville.
«Dans l’ensemble, je suis satisfait de ma première année, malgré les petites roches laissées par l’administration précédente»» a-t-il exprimé dans une entrevue accordée au Journal Le Soleil de Châteauguay. Petites roches ? «Les décisions prises par l’ancien conseil, avec lesquelles on est pris, comme le Sportplex, donne-t-il en exemple. C’est 27 M$ sans aucune subvention! Les citoyens verront sur leur prochain compte de taxes une ligne indiquant « Régie Beau-Château », avec le montant supplémentaire à payer».
Pierre-Paul Routhier soutient également avoir été «surpris», à son arrivée, par une «administration laissée à l’abandon». Situation qui a mené au départ de Sébastien Gagnon , directeur général engagé par l’ex-mairesse Nathalie Simon en . L’intérim est actuellement assuré par la greffière Nancy Poirier, jusqu’à ce que la Ville trouve un nouveau DG.
Entre-temps, le maire se dit «satisfait» de la «nouvelle approche» de la Ville. «Je suis aussi content de la façon dont les membres du conseil travaillent ensemble, ajoute le maire. Par exemple dans le dossier de l’avenir du manoir d’Youville, où l’on a eu beaucoup de propositions. Ou par rapport à de plusieurs changements de zonages qui ont donné le feu vert à des projets de développements, comme la rénovation du Centre Régional et plusieurs projets de développements résidentiels» conclut-il.
Routhier ‘’partially’’ satisfied with first year as Chateauguay mayor
Chateauguay Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier outlines a synopsis that is ‘’positive in part’’ after the completion of his first year as the city’s first magistrate.
’’On the whole, I am satisfied with my first year, in spite of little problems left by the previous administration,’’ he expressed in an interview with the Chateauguay Soleil. Little problems? ‘’The decisions made by the former council, which we inherited, such as the Sportplex,’’ he cites as an example. ‘’It costs $27 million without a subsidy! The citizens will see on their next tax bill a line indicating ‘Beau-Chateau Board’, with the supplementary amount to pay.’’
Routhier also maintains that he was ‘’surprised,’’ on his arrival by an ‘’administration that was neglected,’’ he believes. It was a situation that he says led to the departure of Sebastien Gagnon, the director general hired by former mayoress Nathalie Simon in March of 2016. The interim is being filled by clerk Nancy Poirier, until the City finds a new DG.
In the meantime, the mayor says he is satisfied with ‘’the new approach’’ set up, notably with promoters and citizens. ‘’I am also happy with the way in which the council members work together,’’ he adds. ‘’For example, in the dossier on the future of the D’Youville Manor, where we received many propositions. Or with regard to several zoning changes which, for example, permitted the renovation of the Regional Shopping Centre and several residential development projects.’’
