Park Yvan-Franco to be used for school construction

The City of Châteauguay will transfer the Yvan-Franco Park to the Centre de services scolaire des Grandes-Seigneuries (CSSDGS) to allow the construction of a new elementary school on the Boulevard De Gaulle site.
Meanwhile, the New Frontiers School Board will expand the Harmony Elementary School at the same location. In June, the City approved a tripartite agreement with the two school organizations.
As there is currently a baseball field in the park, the City and the New Frontiers School Board have committed to constructing a baseball field "or any other sports infrastructure of the same nature" on another New Frontiers-owned property in Châteauguay.
The playground structures section and the splash pads section of the park will be preserved, confirmed Audrey Jacques, Communications Manager at the City of Châteauguay.
