(English follows) La construction d’un nouveau chalet dans le parc Joseph-Laberge, à Châteauguay, accuse quelques semaines de retard en raison notamment d’une pénurie de main-d’œuvre en construction.
«Cette pénurie généralisée au Québec actuellement fait en sorte que les sous-traitants peuvent favoriser les travaux les plus rentables et les entrepreneurs avec qui ils ont l’habitude de travailler» explique Marie-Claude Tremblay, directrice des communications pour la Ville. Et puisque l’entrepreneur provient de Stanbridge-Station et qu’il n’a jamais travaillé dans la région, l’entreprise est peu connue des sous-traitants», poursuit-elle.
La complexité de la toiture, qui a engendré plusieurs allers-retours entre les professionnels et le fabricant, est une autre raison expliquant les retards. La livraison du projet, prévue pour la fin octobre, est maintenant prévue à la fin novembre. «Il n’y a toutefois aucun impact sur le coût. La qualité des travaux et le budget sont respectés» précise la porte-parole.
New chalet delayed
The construction of a new chalet at Joseph Laberge Park in Chateauguay is showing a delay of a few weeks, notably because of a shortage of construction manpower.
‘’This general shortage in Quebec actually means that the sub-contractors can be partial to the more profitable works and the entrepreneurs with whom they are used to working with,’’ explains City communications director Marie-Claude Tremblay. And since the entrepreneur comes from Stanbridge Station and has never worked in our region, the enterprise is not very well known to some sub-contractors,’’ she continued.
The complexity of the roof, which engendered several comings and goings between the professionals and the manufacturer, is another reason explaining the delays. The delivery of the project, forecast for the end of October, is now expected for the end of November. ‘’Nevertheless, there is no impact on the cost. The quality of the works and the budget will be respected,’’ Tremblay informed.
