The time when overnight parking in Chateauguay streets was forbidden throughout the winter has ended.
Starting with the cold months to come, the City is going to tell people on a daily basis if night-time parking is permitted or not, announced Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier at the public City Council meeting of November 16.
“There is a slight difference to add: it remains forbidden except when it is indicated on the City’s website. It will be up to each of us to verify before parking in the street,” specified city councillor Eric Corbeil.
The elected officials announced that the regulation concerned would be modified at a future council meeting.
The measure aims to facilitate snow-removal operations. Several citizens were deploring the parking ban in periods when there were no snowflakes mobilizing snow-ploughs and trucks. Chateauguay is modelling itself in the footsteps of several cities which have adopted a similar approach.
