Ville de Châteauguay’s Divison hygiène du milieu is planning to do work on the drinking water system on May 11, which will result in a preventive boil water advisory for the whole region and the cities served by our system on that day and during the following hours.
Therefore, effective May 11 at 8 a.m., and for a period of up to 36 hours, please do not consume tap water without first boiling it for at least one minute or use bottled water.
What should you do?
Starting at 8 a.m. on May 11, it is recommended to boil water for at least one minute or use bottled water for drinking and cooking, brushing your teeth, making ice, washing dishes, and for washing and preparing food, until the advisory is lifted.
It is acceptable to use the water to take a bath as long as you do not drink it. For young children, it is therefore recommended to put very little water in the bath and not to let them play in it.
Samples will be taken on the day of the work and a notice will be issued when the laboratory results are excellent. If everything goes well, the lifting of the boil water advisory should be confirmed within approximately 24 to 36 hours.
We are sorry for the inconvenience that this situation may cause and thank you for your understanding and your usual co-operation.
