Santa Claus will be in Châteauguay on Saturday, December 2nd for the traditional parade of lights along D'Anjou and Maple boulevards. He will be accompanied by singer Marie-Élaine Thibert, who lives in Châteauguay and plays the role of star fairy.

In keeping with tradition, residents are invited to line up along boulevard D'Anjou to admire the various floats, dancers and local characters and organisations on parade. The city is pleased to welcome back the Châteauguay firefighters to this annual event, they had been absent for several years due to pressure tactics during collective bargaining.

The parade will kick off at 6:45 p.m. at Saint-Joachim church. The procession will then head for the Raymond-Laberge library on boulevard Maple.

The city wishes to point out that certain arteries will be closed between 5.15 p.m. and 9.15 p.m., including boulevard D'Anjou and the Arthur-Laberge bridge.

"Organizing this major event represents a major logistical challenge that would not be possible without the invaluable contribution of volunteers," says the city.  Anyone interested in getting involved can contact Cédric Lapointe by e-mail at cedric.lapointe@ville.chateauguay.qc.ca or by telephone at 450 698-3846.

The parade is back. Last year, it was cancelled after 75 km/h wind gusts were forecast on the evening of the event.
