(English follows) Le conseil de Ville de Châteauguay a modifié un règlement, lors de sa séance ordinaire du 22 janvier, afin d’inclure le moulin de l’île Saint-Bernard aux éléments à caractère patrimonial à protéger.
L’administration précédente avait amorcé le processus en décembre 2016 en citant le tertre de l’île Saint-Bernard «et ses bâtiments» à titre de bien patrimonial dans le cadre de la Loi sur le patrimoine culturel du Québec. Cette citation était accompagnée d’une modification au plan d’urbanisme. Mais selon le maire Pierre-Paul Routhier, on a «oublié d’inclure le moulin» à la liste, a-t-il expliqué lors de la séance. Ce moulin à vent, construit en 1686, est l’un des derniers au Québec.
Ile St. Bernard mill also protected
The Chateauguay City Council modified a bylaw at its regular meeting of January 22, in order to include the Ile St. Bernard mill to the patrimonial elements to protect.
The previous administration had begun the process in December of 2016 by citing the knoll of Ile St. Bernard ‘’and its buildings’’ to the title of patrimonial asset in the framework of the Quebec Law on cultural patrimony. This citation was accompanied by a modification to the urbanism plan. But according to Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier, they ‘’forgot to include the mill’’ on the list, he explained during the session.This windmill, constructed in 1686, is one of the last ones in Quebec.
