Un enseignant en droit à l’Université de Montréal convoite pour la deuxième fois un poste de conseiller à Châteauguay.
François Le Borgne a confirmé qu’il se représenterait lors des élections de novembre à titre de candidat indépendant pour un mandat de conseiller dans le district d’Youville.
M. Le Borgne est connu dans la région pour ses interventions lors des séances du conseil municipal, mais également pour son implication au sein du Comité sur l’éthique et la transparence de la Ville de Châteauguay, ainsi que dans le Conseil d’Établissement de l’École Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption.
Il est également membre du Comité des équivalences du Barreau du Québec et administrateur de l’Université de Montréal, détaille-t-il dans un communiqué.
«Mon expertise et mon enseignement du droit, particulièrement dans les domaines de la gouvernance, du transport, de l’interprétation des lois et du droit administratif peuvent être un atout important pour l’administration municipale et la recherche de consensus au sein du Conseil», fait-il valoir.
Il précise vouloir prêter une attention particulière à « la sécurité des personnes et des biens», «les augmentations de taxes et le manque d’entretien ou l’absence de certains aménagements pour la voirie et les parcs», tout en encourageant «le développement économique de la ville ainsi que la mise en valeur de la rivière».
M. Le borgne avait été candidat indépendant au poste de conseiller dans le même district aux élections de 2013. Il avait été battu par Alain Côté.

Chateauguay elections: Law teacher enters race as independent candidate
A University of Montreal law professor is running for a post as a Chateauguay city councillor.
François Le Borgne has confirmed that he would represent himself in the November elections seeking a mandate as councillor in the D’Youville Ward 8 district.
Le Borgne is known in the region for his interventions at Municipal Council meetings, but also for his involvement at the heart of the City’s Ethics and Transparency Committee, as well as on the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption School’s governing board.
He is also a member of the Equivalences Committee of the Quebec Bar and is an administrator at University of Montreal, according to a communique he issued.«My expertise and my teaching of law, particularly in the domains of governance, transport, the interpretation of laws and Administrative Law can be an important asset for the municipal administration and the search for consensus on City Council, » he said.
He specifies that he wants to lend particular attention to « the security of people and assets, tax increases and the lack of maintenance or absence of certain improvements for the highways and parks, » while encouraging « the economic development of the City as well as the enhancement of the river. »
Le Borgne had been an independent candidate for councillor in the same district in the 2013 elections. He was beaten out by Alain Cote.
