(English follows) Selon deux candidats à des postes de conseillers dans l’équipe Vision Châteauguay-Équipe Routhier Team, l’argent est actuellement mal dépensé pour les routes et les parcs de la Ville.
«Pourquoi avoir investi 4 M$ pour refaire la rue Principale, alors qu’elle venait tout juste d’être refaite? questionne le conseiller sortant du district de Lang (6), Mike Gendron, qui brigue un nouveau mandat. On avait déjà un carrefour giratoire qui donnait accès à Haute-Rivière. On a préféré tout démolir et acheter des commerces pour refaire le secteur. L’argent de ces travaux aurait dû être utilisé pour refaire des routes qui en avaient vraiment besoin, comme Saint-Francis, déplore le candidat. Même chose pour l’argent dépensé pour une piscine extérieure à Beauharnois. Cet argent aurait plutôt dû être mis dans les parcs de la ville», poursuit-il.
«Il y a de l’incompétence quelque part pour dépenser l’argent de cette manière, renchérit Pierre-Paul Routhier, chef du parti Vision Châteauguay. Je ne sais pas si c’est administratif ou politique, mais essayez de calculer les taxes des citoyens qui passent dans cette incompétence. Si nous sommes élus, je peux vous garantir que le carrefour giratoire sur Maple restera là pour longtemps. Si des gens ne l’aiment pas, on va les écouter, mais on ne refera jamais une rue qui vient juste d’être faite. C’est une promesse, nous nous concentrerons sur celles qui ont vraiment besoin d’être réparées», affirme l’aspirant maire.
Des parcs ouverts à tous
La conseillère sortante dans le district de Bumbray (4), Lucie Laberge, qui se présente elle aussi sous les couleurs de Vision Châteauguay, critique quant à elle des structures de jeux devenues dangereuses dans certains parcs. «Je suis proche et à l’écoute des concitoyens depuis 2013, je vous assure qu’ils me disent encore aujourd’hui qu’ils ne peuvent pas profiter des installations récréatives de la Ville», regrette la candidate. Celle-ci voudrait que les gens puissent se «réapproprier les parcs» afin de pouvoir y faire «des BBQ et des fêtes pendant l’été, et y aménager des patinoires pendant l’hiver s’ils le souhaitent», énumère-t-elle. Elle indique également que le parti Vision Châteauguay voudrait aménager au moins quatre parcs à chien pour desservir tous les secteurs. «Quand je fais du porte-à-porte, je constate qu’il y a un chien aux deux maisons. Pourtant, le seul parc à chiens qu’il y avait dans la Ville est fermé présentement», déplore-t-elle.

Chateauguay elections: Routhier Team promises roads, parks to make Chateauguay residents proud
According to two candidates for posts of councillor on the Vision Chateauguay-Routhier Team, money is currently being poorly spent for the City’s roads and parks.
«Why did they invest $4 million to redo Principale street, when it had just been rebuilt? » questions outgoing Ward 6 Lang councillor Mike Gendron, who is seeking a new mandate. We already had a roundabout which provided access to Haute Riviere. They preferred to demolish everything and purchase businesses to rebuild the sector. The money for these works could have been used to repair the roads which really needed it, such as St. Francis Blvd., » deplores the candidate. « It’s the same thing for the money spent on an outdoor swimming pool in Beauharnois. This money could instead have been put into the city’s parks, » he continued.
«There is incompetence somewhere to spend the money in this fashion, » Pierre-Paul Routhier, chief of the Vision Chateauguay-Team Routhier Party, went one better. « I don’t know whether it’s administrative or political, but try to calculate the citizens’ taxes which are subject to this incompetence. If we are elected, I can guarantee you that the roundabout on Maple will stay there for a long time. If some people don’t like it, we will listen to them, but we will never rebuild a street that has just been redone. That’s a promise. We will concentrate on the ones which really need to be repaired, » affirmed the aspiring mayor.
Parks open to all
Lucie Laberge, the outgoing councillor in Ward 4 Bumbray, who is also running under Vision Chateauguay colours, from her standpoint criticizes the games structures that have become dangerous in certain parks. « I am close by and am tuned in to my fellow citizens since 2013. I assure you that they are still telling me today that they cannot benefit from the City’s recreation installations, » the candidate regrets.
She would like the people to be able to « regain control of the parks » in order to be able to hold « barbecues and festivals there during the summer, and to lay out skating rinks there during the winter if they so wish, » she said. Laberge also indicates that the Vision Chateauguay Party would like to set up at least four dog parks to serve all sectors of the city. « When I do my door-to-door rounds, I notice that there is a dog in every second house. However, the only dog park there was in the City is currently closed, » she deplores.
