Le candidat à la mairie aux prochaines élections municipales Pierre-Paul Routhier promet une mise à niveau rapide des rues et des parcs de Châteauguay s’il est élu.
Dans un communiqué le 17 août, le chef du parti Vision Châteauguay-Équipe Routhier Team dit être déçu des «maigres efforts» qui y ont été déployés depuis huit ans. « De temps à autre, la Ville annonce des millions pour la réfection des rues et des conduites d’égouts et d’aqueduc. On dirait qu’on veut faire un écran de fumée afin de cacher l’improvisation et le manque de planification de Mme Simon et son équipe. C’est drôle, à l’approche de l’élection, on trouve des sous pour réparer des rues à droite et à gauche. Ça fonctionne selon les humeurs du moment», s’indigne M. Routhier.
Il critique également l’absence de subvention obtenue par la Ville des paliers provincial et fédéral «pour plusieurs grands projets». Ce qui, selon lui, ralentit considérablement la cadence avec laquelle la Ville pourrait entretenir ses rues et ses équipements. « Saint-Constant a obtenu 12 millions $ pour des projets totalisant 20 millions $. Châteauguay a obtenu zéro pour des projets qui totaliseront plus de 25 millions $! Il y a quelqu’un qui dort quelque part depuis huit ans! » soutient l’aspirant maire.
M. Routhier promet donc de «mettre en branle dans les plus brefs délais un vaste plan de réfection des rues et des trottoirs, ainsi que la mise à niveau des parcs de la municipalité». Parcs dont plus de la moitié, soutient-il, montre des signes de désuétude et des problèmes de sécurité. «Une ville familiale comme la nôtre, qui désire attirer d’autres familles, peut-elle attendre 10 ans avant de mettre à jour ses parcs de quartier? C’est pourtant ce que propose le plan directeur des parcs de la Ville. Je suis abasourdi! » conclut-il.

Chateauguay elections : streets, parks in Routhier’s sights
Pierre-Paul Routhier, a mayoral candidate in the coming municipal elections, is promising a quick upgrade of Chateauguay’s streets and parks if he is elected.
In a communique dated August 17, the head of the Parti Vision Chateauguay-Equipe Routhier Team says he is disappointed with the « meagre efforts » that have been deployed in that area during the past eight years. « From time to time, the City announces millions of dollars for the reconstruction of streets and conduits of sewers and aqueducts. One would say that they want to create a smoke screen in order to hide the improvisation and the lack of planning by Madam Simon and her team. It’s funny that as the elections approach, they suddenly find the pennies to repair the streets left and right. It functions according to the moods of the moment, » he said indignantly.
He also criticizes the absence of the grant obtained by the City from the provincial and federal levels « for several great projects. » All of which, according to him, is considerably slowing down the cadence with which the City could maintain its streets and equipment. « St. Constant acquired $12 million for projects totalling $20 million. Chateauguay has obtained zero for certain projects which will total more than $25 million! Someone has been sleeping somewhere for the past eight years! » claims the aspiring mayor.
Routhier promises to « put into effect as soon as possible a vast plan for rebuilding streets and sidewalks, as well as the upgrading of the municipality’s parks. » More than half of the parks, he claims, show signs of being outdated and having security problems.
« A family-oriented city such as ours, which desires to attract other families here, can it wait 10 years before updating its district parks? That, however, is what the master plan for parks of the City proposes. I am stunned! » he concludes.
