A child was found unresponsive in a backyard pool located on Kirby Hill Road in Kahnawake, July 8, at 3:42 PM.
After he was brought to the hospital, his decease was confirmed, says Kyle Zachary, spokesperson for the Kahnawake Peacekeepers.
« There is an open investigation in regards to the details of how the accident occurred, but there is not suspicion or anything crime-related », he specifies.
The Société de sauvetage reports that on July 8, there was 41 drowning cases in 2020, compared to 31 at the same date last year. More information on drownings in Quebec here.
