The Public Health head office from the Monteregie is starting vaccinations of residents in private residences for the elderly (RPA) this week. Those from the Mary Elizabeth facility in Chateauguay received their first dose of the vaccine on Friday January 22nd much to the great pleasure of the residence’s directorship.
“It is very big happy news for us. We have been working so hard to keep our residents safe and healthy,” remarked residence director Barbara Baird. “Since March we have been doing everything possible, following all regulations set out by the Public Health office and have been one of the lucky ones who have not had any cases of COVID.”
123 of the 124 residents accepted to get vaccinated. “It went really well and everyone is so happy,” Baird affirmed. “We see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
From the standpoint of the CHSLDs, close to 5,000 Monteregie residents had received a first dose by January 21.
The vaccinations in residence of the intermediate resources type and the family type were held last week,” informed Chantal Vallee, spokesperson of the Monteregie Public Health directorship. “We have also vaccinated residents from a few RPAs, when we had the vaccine doses necessary and that these RPAs were nearby or attached to an RI,” she explained. “Vaccination teams are continuing their work as of Wednesday. “We are adjusting our vaccination schedules according to the reception of the vaccines,” she explained.
Acording to the facts from the Health Ministry on January 27, 31,941 doses of vaccine had been administered in the Monteregie.
