(English follows)Des planches de contreplaqué sont apparues dans le paysage sur la structure qui mène vers la Rive-Sud du pont Mercier.
Ces planches sont visibles depuis la réouverture des quatre voies le dimanche 19 août. Selon le ministère des Transports, elles servent «d’aire de protection des ouvriers». «Il y a encore des travaux qui sont effectués sous la structure, explique le conseiller aux communications du ministère des Transports Maxime Guay. Cette aire de protection permet aux ouvriers d’accéder à une plateforme sous le pont.»
Des travaux de maintien du pont gérés par le Ministère se poursuivent jusqu’en avril prochain, mais la majorité seront terminés au mois de novembre, précise-t-il. À ce moment, les jerseys de béton et les planches de contreplaqué seront retirés. La largeur des deux voies sera élargie à 3,9 mètres.
Des travaux de nuit et de fin de semaine occasionneront d’autres fermetures de voie sur le pont Mercier d’ici l’automne. Le MTQ n’avait pas encore de date précise à ce sujet.
Plywood protects Mercier Bridge workers

These planks are visible since the reopening of the four lanes on Sunday, August 19. According to the Quebec Transport Ministry, they serve ‘’as an area of protection for the workmen.’’ ‘’There are still tasks that are being done under the span,’’ explains Transport Ministry communications counsellor Maxime Guay. ‘’This protection area enables the workmen to gain access to a platform underneath the bridge.’’
Some bridge maintenance works managed by the Ministry continue until next April, but the majority will be terminated during the month of November, he specifies. At that moment, the jerseys of concrete and planks of plywood will be withdrawn. The width of the two lanes will be enlarged to 3.9 metres.
