(English follows) La Conseil de Ville de Châteauguay a adopté une résolution autorisant le congédiement d’un employé syndiqué qui occupait un poste «névralgique» pour la municipalité.
«Cet employé-là travaillait dans un secteur qui à notre avis était excessivement important, et les reproches qui lui ont été adressés justifient, à notre avis, son congédiement», a exprimé le maire Pierre-Paul Routhier avant que les conseillers approuvent cette action lors de leur séance du 9 juillet.
En entrevue au Journal le surlendemain, le maire a refusé d’en dire davantage pour des questions juridiques. «On va attendre de recevoir l’avis du syndicat. À partir du moment où on aura leur réponse, on pourra en dire plus» a-t-il exprimé en répétant que cette décision avait été prise «en fonction de l’importance du poste occupé» par cet employé et de «l’importance des faits qui lui sont reprochés».
Firing of an employee occupying a ‘’sensitive’’ job
Chateauguay City Council has adopted a resolution authorizing the firing of an employee who occupied a ‘’sensitive’’ position for the municipality.
‘’This employee was working in a sector which in our opinion was excessively important, and the rebukes that had been addressed to him justify, in our opinion, his firing,’’ explained Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier before the councillors approved this action at their public meeting of July 9.
In an interview with Le Soleil the following day, the Mayor refused to say more due to legal reasons. ‘’We are going to wait to receive the opinion of the union. At the moment when we receive their reply, we will be able to say more,’’ he said, while repeating that this decision had been taken ‘’according to the importance of the job occupied’’ by this employee and ‘’the importance of the facts for which he is being reproached.’’ Chateauguay City Council adopted a resolution authorizing the firing of a union employee who held a ‘’sensitive’’ post for the municipality.
