(English follows) La Commission scolaire New Frontiers a reçu un prix pour un projet réalisé dans son centre de formation professionnelle Chateauguay Valley Career Centre, situé à Ormstown.
Les élèves et les enseignants de l’école de charpenterie-menuiserie ont travaillé pendant plusieurs années, et en collaboration avec d’autres commissions scolaires, à la construction d’une maison écologique certifiée LEED, en partenariat avec Habitat pour l’humanité de la province de Québec. Aux termes de sa construction, qui s’est déroulée de façon modulaire dans le hangar du centre, indique la commission scolaire, la maison a été déplacée dans la ville d’Ormstown, sur un terrain offert par la municipalité. Elle a été finalisée sur place. Des élèves provenant d’autres écoles professionnelles ont effectué le travail spécialisé en électricité et en plomberie. Deux familles, sélectionnées par Habitat pour l’humanité-Québec, sont maintenant propriétaires de la maison. Avec ce projet, la Commission scolaire a obtenu le prix d’excellence de l’Institut d’administration publique du Québec dans la catégorie «Éducation», qui lui a été remis le 2 novembre 2017.

New Frontiers School Board wins prize for LEED house
The New Frontiers School Board has received a prize for a project carried out in its Chateauguay Valley Career Centre professional training facility in Ormstown.
The pupils and teachers from the carpentry/cabinet school worked for several years, and in collaboration with other school boards, in constructing a certified LEED ecological house, in partnership with the Quebec Province Habitat for Humanity. In the terms of its construction, which took place in a modular fashion in the centre’s hangar, the school board indicates that the house was moved to a lot offered by the Ormstown municipality and was finalized there. Some students coming from other professional schools did specialized work in electricity and plumbing. Two families, selected by Quebec Habitat for Humanity, are now owners of the house. With this project, the School Board obtained the prize of excellence from the Quebec Institute of Public Administration in the « Education » category, which was presented to it last November 2.
