Châteauguay ne veut plus de la maison Moïse-Prégent

(English follows) Achetée en 2014 par l’administration Simon au prix de 285 000$ , la maison Moïse-Prégent ne fait plus partie des plans de l’administration Routhier, qui souhaite voir si des acheteurs pourraient s’y intéresser. «Il est certain qu’on ne mettra pas d’argent là-dedans» a fait savoir le maire lors de l'assemblée publique du 16 avril. Le conseiller Éric Allard, qui dit être allé visiter les lieux, a évoqué des «poutres pourries» et un «crépi endommagé». Il a d’ailleurs été suggéré de mettre une clôture de chantier autour de la maison pour protéger les marcheurs ou les enfants qui oseraient s’aventurer sur le terrain, ce, après qu’une citoyenne ait mentionné que le crépi des murs tombait au sol. L’achat de ce duplex situé en zone inondable n’avait pas fait l’unanimité en 2014. Les conseillers indépendants qui siégeaient alors au conseil s’y étaient opposés, notamment en raison du mauvais état des lieux, confirmé par deux rapports d’inspection. L’immeuble est situé au 4, chemin de la Haute-Rivière. Datant de 1763, il est réputé comme l’un des plus vieux édifices de la municipalité. Chateauguay no longer wants Moïse-Prégent house

Purchased in 2014 by the Nathalie Simon administration for the price of $285,000, the Moise Pregent house no longer is in the plans of the Pierre-Paul Routhier administration, which wants to see if some potential buyers could be interested in acquiring it. ‘’It is certain that we won’t put any money into it,’’ the Mayor explained at the public meeting of April 16. Cty Councillor Eric Allard, who says he went to inspect the site, evoked seeing some ‘’rotten beams’’ and a ‘’damaged wall.’’ Moreover he suggested that a construction fence be erected around the house to protect pedestrians or children who might dare to venture on the land. He said this after a citizen mentioned that the plaster from some walls had fallen to the ground. The purchase of this duplex which is located in a flood zone did not get unanimous approval in 2014. The independent councillors who were sitting on council then were opposed to it, notably because of the poor condition of the property, confirmed by two inspection reports. The building is situated at 4 Chemin de Haute Riviere. Dating back to 1763, it is reputed to be one of the municipality’s oldest buildings. (Translation Dan Rosenburg)
