The pricing for the registration in sports and recreation activities on City of Chateauguay territory is now modulated depending on the city of residence.

The federations and organizations that offer activities to Chateauguay must from now on require that each person identifies, on its registration slip, the town where he or she resides. The idea is to offer in an early stage a fixed tariff for all participants. And, in a second stage, we can apply a reimbursement to Chateauguay residents only.
‘’If the citizens of Mercier or another city after having paid their registration, wishes to also have a refund, they will have to turn to their own municipality so that it pays its share,’’ explained Chateauguay Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier during the City Council meeting of August 19. ‘’If the Mercier City Council wants to pay, so much the better. But if it does not want to help pay, unfortunately the citizen of that town is going to help us pay for our installations here, by paying the full price,’’ he added.
This change in the recreation policy will enable Chateauguay to be more equitable towards its own citizens who already assume, via their municipal tax bill, the financing of several sports infrastructures built on the territory. But, several Chateauguay sports federations, such as the ones that offer soccer or football, among others, have in their ranks players who come from various other municipalities.
