(English follows) COMMUNAUTÉ. Un grand bénévole de Châteauguay, Ernie Presseau, est décédé, dans la nuit de mardi à mercredi.
M. Presseau a succombé à un cancer. Il était bien connu dans la communauté pour son organisation de la fête du Canada et la parade de la Saint-Patrick, depuis plusieurs années. M. Presseau était le fondateur The Chateauguay and Valley Irish Heritage Association. Même à ses derniers moments, en juillet dernier, il a mis la main à la pâte pour les célébrations du 150e anniversaire du Canada dans la Ville de Châteauguay. Il était présent, dans sa chaise roulante, malgré sa grave maladie.
Hommage à M. Presseau
Selon Philippe Mercier, attaché politique du député Pierre Moreau, un hommage sera rendu à cet homme dans les prochains jours en collaboration avec la Ville de Châteauguay.
«Je suis très triste. M. Presseau était devenu un ami très cher. Je suis allée souper avec lui à la maison, il y a quelques jours et je lui avais amené quelques plats. C’était une force de la nature. Un citoyen engagé, rempli d’amour pour sa communauté. Il avait toujours des projets! Il aura été dans l’action jusqu’à la fin. Il était un exemple de générosité, toujours prêt à aider et à donner du temps! La Ville soulignera son apport», commente Nathalie Simon, mairesse sortante de la Ville de Châteauguay.

COMMUNITY. Ernie Presseau, a hard-working Chateauguay volunteer, passed away during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.
Presseau succumbed to cancer. He was well known in the community for his organizing of the Canada Day festival and the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade since the latter’s inception. Presseau was the founder of The Chateauguay and Valley Irish Heritage Association. Even in his last moments, last July, he pitched in and helped organize the celebrations for Canada’s 150th birthday in Chateauguay. He was ever-present in his wheelchair, in spite of his grave illness.
Tribute to Presseau
According to Philippe Mercier, political attaché to Chateauguay MNA Pierre Moreau, a tribute will be paid to this man in the coming days, in conjunction with the City.
«I am very sad,” said outgoing Chateauguay Mayoress Nathalie Simon. I went and had supper with him at his house a few days ago and I brought him several platters of food. He was a force of nature. He was a committed citizen, full of love for his community. He always had some projects going on! He was active until the very end. He was a shining example of generosity, always ready to help and give up his time! The City will emphasize his contributions,” she commented.
