(English follows) L’entente de principe conclue il y a un mois entre la Ville de Châteauguay et la Fraternité des policiers vient d’être officialisée avec le renouvellement de la convention collective par les deux parties.
«Nous sommes très satisfaits de l’entente conclue […] Des concessions ont été faites par chacune des parties, ce qui a permis d’adapter notre service de police aux réalités actuelles et d’obtenir une stabilité pour plusieurs années. Durant tout le processus, les négociations se sont déroulées dans le respect et l’ouverture » indique le maire de Châteauguay, Pierre-Paul Routhier, dans un communiqué de la Ville publié le 20 décembre. La Convention collective précédente, dont l’échéance était prévue en janvier 2019, a dû être rouverte afin, notamment, de régler le problème des 11 policiers «en trop» depuis le départ de la Ville de Mercier de la desserte policière. La nouvelle entente, valide jusqu’en janvier 2024, permet donc à la Ville de réduire l’effectif policier dès le 1er janvier 2019. L’entente prévoit également une révision des «ratios», notamment par rapport aux vacances et aux «couvertures», qui seront adaptées à un effectif réduit. La question salariale, qui avait déjà fait l’objet d’une entente en 2016, n’a pas été modifiée.
Chateauguay, police ink contract
The agreement in principle concluded a month ago between the City of Chateauguay and the Police Brotherhood has been made official by the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement by both parties.
‘’We are very satisfied with the entente concluded (…) Some concessions were made by each of the parties, which enabled the adaption of our police service to current realities and permits us to obtain stability for several years. During the entire process, the negotiations took place with respect and openness,’’ indicated Chateauguay Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier in a City communique published on December 20. The preceding contract, whose expiry date had been forecast in January 2019, had to be reopened in order to notably settle the problem of 11 police officers ‘’too many’’ since the departure of the Town of Mercier from the policing service. The new accord, valid until January of 2024, has enabled the City to reduce the police manpower as of January 1, 2019. The entente also provides for a revision of ‘’ratios’’, notably regarding vacations and to ‘’coverings’’, which will be adapted to reduced manpower. The salary question, which had already been the object of an agreement in 2016, has not been modified.
