With the approach of Halloween, the Service de police de Châteauguay wishes to remind the public of the safety rules for children and adults going door to door.

 Make sure to be visible. Wear bright-coloured clothing with reflective strips.

 Wear short clothing to avoid tripping.

 Put on makeup instead of a mask so you can see and hear well.

 Use a flashlight to see better and be more visible.

 Only walk on one side of the street at a time. Avoid running and crossing needlessly.

 Cross the streets at the intersections and obey the road signs.

 Inform your parents of your trip and when you expect to return.

 Refuse to approach or get into a vehicle without your parents’ permission.

 Examine the candy received with your parents to ensure you can eat it without danger.

COVID-19: Public Health recommendation

Door-to-door trick-or-treat activities are authorized by the Gouvernement du Québec, on condition that a few health instructions are followed to reduce the risks of transmission of COVID-19.

1. Children – and their parents, for younger ones – must walk only with members of their household.

2. Whenever possible, children must collect the sweets and candy at a distance of 2 metres from the occupants of the home visited.

3. Children must never enter the homes.

In addition to the three conditions mentioned above, note that:

 persons who display symptoms of COVID-19 or who are in isolation must not participate;

 the trick-or-treat route must be limited to the neighbourhood around the participants’ domicile;

 persons must always maintain a 2-metre distance from each other, wear a face covering and refrain from singing or shouting in front of the people they visit;

 hand washing is recommended before leaving and returning home;

 Private gatherings and adult parties are prohibited.

On Saturday, October 31, drivers must also be especially careful and vigilant. Service de police de Châteauguay police officers will patrol the residential areas.

Be careful and have lots of fun, safely!
