Chateauguay City Council at its November public meeting gave notice to the effect that the City was counting on borrowing $2.1 million to convert its public street lighting to DEL.

A first notice to that effect had been given in March of 2019 but the enterprise concerned was not in position to deliver the merchandise at that time, explained Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier. ‘’ A notice of motion is valid for three months and that is why the council must give a new notice of motion,’’ he specified. The project consists of changing 3,500 ‘’cobra heads’’ for lighting of electro-luminescent diodes. It is a concept that is more durable and more economical. The City foresees ‘’dipping into its money’’ again in five years and making substantial savings as a result, the Mayor noted. Decorative lights are not being considered.
