The elected officials have granted a contract to the Emergency Solutions firm of acquisition and implementation of a system of electronic ticketing. The contract is in the amount of $177,000.

The technology enables the police to gather information on drivers’ licences and registration certificates by numerizing them instead of copying them out. “That exists on the majority of cities except here. It is time that we arrived in the 21st century,” affirmed Chateauguay Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier at the City Council meeting of April 20.

The new formula will be quicker and it eliminates the risks of transcription error, he pointed out.

The report will be quickly transmitted to the Municipal Court. In this way, the ticket will be able to be paid as soon as the day following the commission of the infraction.
