“It will also be the scene of collaboration for projects of common interest related to regional economic development, mobility or even regional heritage,” informed Anne-Louise Milot, Director of Communications for the MRC Roussillon.

It was after an initial meeting that Prefect and Mayor of Delson, Christian Ouellette, and Grand Chief Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer decided to create the committee.

“We are neighbours but we don’t know one another,” expressed Mr. Ouellette via press release. “We do, however, have something in common; a genuine desire to develop harmonious, mutually beneficial relations.”

A committee framework will be established and formalized by Mr. Ouellette and Ms. Sky-Deer at their next meeting which is slated a few weeks from now.

The MRC de Roussillon reminded that its 2020-2026 Strategic Plan included the desire to improve understanding and relations with the community of Kahnawake.
